Ages: 14+
Description: Get to know the work of artist Nick Cave & his famous Sound suits, then get a chance to make your own! Cave explores themes of identity & empowerment to create large sculptures that can be worn and are activated by movement. In this class we will be creating two dimensional, moveable paper dolls in the style of these Sound suits playing with unique shapes, textures, and movement on a smaller scale. Come learn about an incredible artist & make a fun personalized masterpiece!
Materials Included: A huge variety of papers, scraps and ephemera along with any tools and other materials necessary.
Instructor: Ellen Ogilvie is an artist & educator who has always enjoyed experimenting with different mediums. She is passionate about diverting waste & that comes through in her love of collage, mending, & making things. Her current artistic pursuits elevate materials that might otherwise end up in a landfill to create unique & personalized treasures.
Location: All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.
