Sun 1/19 Shibori Dyeing, 11am
Sunday - January 19 - 11:00am-2:00pm
Ages: 14+
Description: Using templates, clamps, needles and thread and multiple colors of fiber reactive dyes, in this class the students will learn how add color, to dip fabric in multiple colors and create an additional color on fabric.
Materials provided: cotton and silk fabric. Students take home a minimum of two large scarf-
sized dyed pieces. All dyes, templates, clamps, sewing thread and needles will be there for
your use.
Location: This class is held outdoors - weather permitting - please come prepared in appropriate clothing for the weather and bring water. Dyeing is a delicious mess best done outside on the forgiving asphalt, so we will be back in parking lot next to the donation area.
Instructor: Theresa Robinett’s many years of practicing fiber arts have literally followed thread
from knitting, to hand spinning, to weaving, dyeing, to various surface design techniques
including dyeing with plant dyes and ultimately growing her own dye stuff. Though it was not
until she was in a graduate design program that it became clear that this area of design was
where she needed to focus. She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in design from
San Diego University and Los Angeles University. Currently she is one of Remainders teaching
artists.
Note: LATE ARRIVALS NOT ADMITTED ONCE CLASS HAS BEGUN
Class Refund Policy: Please email remainders.edu@gmail.com with your name and order number at least 48 hours before the class to receive a refund. A 20% cancellation fee applies.
Because we need time to fill vacant spots, there are no refunds with less than 48 hours notice.
