Prerequisite: Please note that Sashiko is a very technical set of sewing techniques and students need to be well-versed in hand sewing or embroidery.

Description: Sashiko is a form of decorative reinforcement stitching (or functional embroidery) from Japan. Traditional sashiko was used to reinforce points of wear, or to repair worn places or tears with patches. Students will learn a number of stitches and create their own sampler.

Materials Included: A variety of fabrics, threads and all necessary tools.

Instructor: Theresa Robinette is a life-long artisan specializing in all kinds of needlework, dyeing processes and fabric printing. She volunteers at Remainders regularly and has an extensive knowledge of fabrics.

Location: All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.

Note: LATE ARRIVALS NOT ADMITTED ONCE CLASS HAS BEGUN
