Description: Inspired by the work of Corita Kent, the “pop-art nun,” this workshop explores the basics of typography and poster design to express social and personal messages. Participants in this workshop will learn about the basics of typography and poster design, and create their own posters to express a personal or social message. In addition to her artistic contributions, Kent was a beloved teacher, inspiring generations of artists to use their creativity as a means of expression and change.
Materials Included: Paper, linoleum blocks, carving tools, brayers, ink, baren/press.
Instructor: Alex Carter is a printmaker and artist who enjoys working in multiple media and on a wide range of project types. Raised in LA, she’s had an eclectic career, ranging from classroom teaching to theme park design, and is excited to share her love of creating art with all ages. Location: All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.
