Fri 10/17 Paper Marbling 6pm
Wednesday - October 17 - 6:00-8:00pm
Ages:14+
Description: Learn how to do paper marbling, a method of aqueous surface design, which can produce patterns similar to smooth marble or other kinds of stone. The patterns are the result of color floated on either plain water or a viscous solution known as size, and then carefully transferred to an absorbent surface, such as paper or fabric. Through several centuries, people have applied marbled materials to a variety of surfaces. It is often employed as a writing surface for calligraphy, and especially book covers and endpapers in bookbinding and stationery. Part of its appeal is that each print is a unique monotype.
Materials Included: All necessary tools and materials.
Instructor: Courtney Freemyer has extensive knowledge of printmaking techniques and loves crafting and thrifting. When she first visited Remainders in the founder’s garage, she did not leave empty handed and knew she'd be back for more! She particularly loves to find new ways of repurposing old things, and has been partnering with a local thrift store to do monthly workshops on crafting with repurposed materials.
Location: Upstairs in our Creative Space. Use the exterior stairs on the east side of the building to enter.
Note: LATE ARRIVALS NOT ADMITTED ONCE CLASS HAS BEGUN
Class Refund Policy: Please email remainders.edu@gmail.com with your name and order number at least 48 hours before the class to receive a refund. A 20% cancellation fee applies.
Because we need time to fill vacant spots, there are no refunds with less than 48 hours notice.
