Description: Learn this traditional Japanese artform and craftwork for making braids and cords. In the past, kumihimo decorations were used as accessories for kimono as well as samurai. The literal meaning is "gathered threads". They are made by interlacing reels of thread, with the use of traditional, specialized looms which will be supplied.

Materials Included: All necessary tools and materials

Instructor: Mae Chester is a fourth generation weaver and who has been doing many different forms of fiber related arts since childhood. Studied textile design at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and worked in the industry for 10 years before moving to California to raise a family.

Location: All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.

Note: LATE ARRIVALS NOT ADMITTED ONCE CLASS HAS BEGUN
