Sun 7/20 Kids Make Llama Looms 3pm
Sunday - July 20 - 3:00-5:00pm
Ages: 8+
Description: In this playful and creative class designed for children ages 8 and up, each student receives their own pre-warped cardboard loom shaped like a llama. First, we bring our llamas to life with markers—adding color, character, and personality. Then, students learn the basics of weaving as they create a cozy little blanket right on their llama’s back. Finally, we dive into a treasure trove of sequins, tassels, pom poms, and more to decorate our llamas in the vibrant style of traditional Central American pack animals. This class is a joyful mix of storytelling, crafting, and fiber art—perfect for young makers who love hands-on fun! This class represents a partnership with the Southern California Handweavers' Guild, schg.org
Materials Included: All necessary tools and materials, but feel free to bring any trinkets you would like to use.
Instructor: Adrian Miller is a multi-disciplinary artist with a deep passion for textile arts. As an elementary school art teacher and the librarian for the Southern California Handweavers Guild, Adrian brings over 20 years of experience teaching weaving, spinning, and other fiber arts to students of all ages--from curious five-year-olds to inspired adults. She discovered spinning 15 years ago and has been captivated ever since by the rhythm, beauty, and rich history of this ancient craft.
