Prerequisite: This is not a beginner class. Students must know how to sew and are required to have taken “Intro to Sergers” class or have equivalent knowledge. We will not spend class time teaching students to use the sergers.

 Description: Put your serger skills to use by sewing a simple knit tank. In this class you will use both a serger and a sewing machine to make a basic knit tank top. Students will learn how to sew clothing with a serger, apply knit binding, and basic knit knowledge. Previous knowledge with knits is helpful, but not necessary. Fabric is provided, but students are welcome to bring their own stable knit fabric if they wish (approx 1.5 yards of a jersey or similar knit fabric required). 

Materials Included: Sewing machines, fabrics and all necessary tools and materials

Instructor: Amanda has taught middle/ elementary school for over 12 years and discovered garment sewing in 2018 by making a simple woven top and was immediately hooked. Since then, she has learned many more sewing techniques & skills while working toward a goal of crafting a completely handmade wardrobe. Sewing has helped her find more joy and acceptance of my her body, cultivate a sense of environmental stewardship, and develop mindful clothing practices. She hopes to share this feeling of confidence and empowerment with others on their sewing journey. Her approach toward garment sewing is mindful, sustainable, and inclusive of all sized bodies.

Location: All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.

Class Refund Policy: Please email remainders.edu@gmail.com with your name and order number at least 48 hours before the class to receive a refund. A 20% cancellation fee applies. Because we need time to fill vacant spots, there are no refunds with less than 48 hours notice.
