Description: Explore a modern take on the art of kimekomi in this hands-on workshop! Traditionally, kimekomi is a Japanese art form where fabric is pressed into grooves on a solid base—without any sewing or gluing. In this workshop, we’ll put a twist on this method, using upcycled fabric scraps and a 5” x 5” foam base to create a vibrant, patterned beetle.
Materials: All materials provided.
Instructor: Jenny Lounibos is a lifelong crafter whose passion is giving new life to unwanted and discarded items. She attributes her ability to find new uses for old things to her mother, a former kindergarten teacher. As the winner of the 2023 Craftcation Iron Crafter competition, she learned that she can create under pressure, but prefers to craft as part of her mindfulness practice. Jenny always strives to create a fun and engaging environment to learn.
Location: All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.
