Tue 3/31 Intro to Heat Press 6pm
Tuesday - March 31 - 6:00-8:00pm
Ages: 12+
Description: Give new life to garments you already have using custom-designed heat transfers and a professional Vevor heat press. In this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop, participants will upcycle clothing by designing graphics to cover existing logos, text, or imagery they no longer want—or by adding new designs to blank areas. Using inkjet-printed heat transfer sheets, original designs will be pressed directly onto garments, transforming them into wearable, personalized pieces while keeping textiles out of the landfill. Each participant will complete at least one garment, with the option to work on additional pieces as time allows. This workshop blends ethical upcycling, personal branding, and creative expression, empowering participants to rethink fast fashion and reclaim clothing they already own.
Materials: All necessary tools and materials are included. Participants may use the graphic design program of their choice. A short, guided tutorial on Canva—a free and beginner-friendly design platform—will be provided for those new to digital design. Participants planning to use Canva should download the app in advance. Laptops or tablets may be used.
For participants who prefer a more analog approach or do not wish to bring a device, there will be an option to create simple hand-cut designs using heat transfer materials.
Instructor: Jenny Lounibos is a lifelong crafter whose passion is giving new life to unwanted and discarded items. She attributes her ability to find new uses for old things to her mother, a former kindergarten teacher. As the winner of the 2023 Craftcation Iron Crafter competition, she learned that she can create under pressure, but prefers to craft as part of her mindfulness practice. Jenny always strives to create a fun and engaging environment to learn.
Location: All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.
Note: LATE ARRIVALS NOT ADMITTED ONCE CLASS HAS BEGUN
Class Refund Policy: Please email toban@remainders.org with your name and order number at least 48 hours before the class to receive a refund. A 20% cancellation fee applies.
Because we need time to fill vacant spots, there are no refunds with less than 48 hours notice.
