Prerequisite: This class is for those who have taken Beginner Sewing 1 or know how to use a sewing machine.

Description:This gentle class introduces students to the basics of hand quilting as both a technical and meditative practice. Topics include tools, hooping, thread selection, and stitch rhythm, all grounded in slowing down and connecting with the process.

Materials Included: Sewing machines, fabrics and all necessary tools and materials

Instructor: Shaadee Mae Ighanian is a textile artist with a background in apparel design and natural dyeing. She loves sharing the magic of turning old textiles into something beautiful and meaningful while also helping students explore their creativity using reclaimed fabrics and sustainable practices. Her classes emphasize not only the technical skills of quilting and design but also the cultural and personal narratives stitched into every piece. Through her work, she inspires others to see the beauty in reuse, the value in handcraft, and the power of quilts to connect us across generations.

Location: Upstairs in our Creative Space. Use the exterior stairs on the east side of the building to enter.
