Fri 5/8 Fiber Vessels 6pm

$30.00

Friday - May 8 - 6:00-8:00pm

Ages: 14+

Description: Description: Whether you are an experienced stitcher or have never picked up a needle, you'll enjoy this free flowing art form that allows you to create a hand stitched fabric vessel from scraps we've collected at Remainders. Once you've made one, you'll want to make a million to hold your change, your jewelry, your keys, your collection of sea stones, etc. We start with a cup, jar or bud vase as the base shape and build on to it with fabric scraps. We will explore straight stitching as well as decorative stitching to attach each scrap, creating your own one-of-a-kind design. If there's time, you can embellish with beads and trims provided. You'll leave with the knowledge needed to make your own at home.

Materials Included: Fabrics and all necessary tools and materials

Instructor: Nathan Vincent is a fiber artist who has exhibited his large-scale knit and crocheted sculptures and installations in museums and galleries internationally. He has shown off his artwork on Martha Stewart, in the pages of the New Yorker Magazine, the LA Times, as well as major fiber books and magazines. Nathan has always loved arts and crafts and learned to crochet from his mother when he was a child. He then went on to teach himself knitting, needlepoint, punch needle, needle felting and hand sewing. Nathan loves to teach others and share his passion for turning simple strands of yarn into beautiful works of art.

Location: All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.

Note: LATE ARRIVALS NOT ADMITTED ONCE CLASS HAS BEGUN

Class Refund Policy: Please email toban@remainders.org with your name and order number at least 48 hours before the class to receive a refund. A 20% cancellation fee applies.
Because we need time to fill vacant spots, there are no refunds with less than 48 hours notice.
