Wed 3/25 Female Fiber Artist Series - FABRIC PRINTING 6pm

$30.00

Wednesday - March 25 - 6:00-8:00pm

Ages: 14+

Description: Drawing inspiration from Lucienne Day’s art practice, students will have access to natural materials-in additional to vintage hand carved wood blocks-to create their designs on a cotton square measuring approximately 24 inches x 24 inches. Students are invited to bring their own block prints and *fabric to the workshop.

Featured Artist: Lucienne Day is famous for her radical and abstract interpretations of the natural world with her hand printed textiles. Her enthusiasm for modern design and constant experimentation made her one of the most important designers of the 20th century. She was greatly inspired by the natural world, and would often find inspiration in her garden. She inked real leaves to create overlapping patterns of the leaf form, and used cut-out paper in her designs.

Materials Included: All necessary tools and materials. Fabric content made of cotton or linen is recommended. Space is limited and fabric pieces larger than 24 inches x 24 inches might not be accommodated.

Instructor: Kelly Dennís Villalba is a visual artist focused on creating unique sculptural artworks to reimagine the idea of the traditional coiled basket. She also enjoys working with analog collage because of how accessible the materials are. She recently moved to Los Angeles from New Jersey, and has lead art studio workshops independently and for art museum audiences geared towards community members and students aged pre-k-adult. Her favorite thing about teaching is being able to share techniques and see students express themselves creatively through the medium. www.kellyvillalba.com and Instagram: @kellybleugreen.

Location: All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.

Many thanks to the Pasadena Arts & Culture Commission and the City of Pasadena Cultural Affairs Division for making our this series possible!

Class Refund Policy: Please email toban@remainders.org with your name and order number at least 48 hours before the class to receive a refund. A 20% cancellation fee applies.
Because we need time to fill vacant spots, there are no refunds with less than 48 hours notice.
