Wed 4/8 Female Artist Series - MIXED-MEDIA ASSEMBLAGE 6pm

$30.00

Wednesday - April 8 - 6:00-8:00pm

Ages: 14+

Description: In this assemblage workshop students will learn about the artist Lenore Tawney and her inspiring art practice. Students are invited to create their own unique assemblage structures by using a variety of found objects and materials. Students are also invited to bring their own materials and memorabilia to personalize their artwork.

Featured Artist: Lenore Tawney’s innovative work was at the vanguard of what came to be called fiber art during the second half of the twentieth century. She is an American artist known for her experimental assemblage which helped to change cultural perspective and elevate the craft process into fine art status. Her groundbreaking sculptural works were an important influence in the United States and internationally. Works ranging from intimate to monumental in scale evidence both the originality of her vision and her sensitivity to the expressive potential of the medium.

Materials Included: All necessary tools and materials. In this workshop we will be using hot glue to hold objects together.

Instructor: Kelly Dennís Villalba is a visual artist focused on creating unique sculptural artworks to reimagine the idea of the traditional practices. She has lead art studio workshops independently and for art museum audiences geared towards community members and students aged pre-k-adult. Her favorite thing about teaching is being able to share techniques and see students express themselves creatively through the medium. www.kellyvillalba.com and Instagram: @kellybleugreen.

Location: All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.

Many thanks to the Pasadena Arts & Culture Commission and the City of Pasadena Cultural Affairs Division for making our this series possible!
