Wed 4/8 Female Fiber Artist Series - FABRIC FLORALS 6pm
Wednesday - April 8 - 6:00-8:00pm
Ages: 14+
Description: This class seeks to honor the craft of the infamous black dressmaker. Her gowns often included hand-sculpted, scattered fabric flowers, which sparked fashion trends among the American elite. Lowe was known to have developed her signature floral embellishments early in her career, recreating flowers from her garden using scraps of fabric. This class will honor her legacy by taking time to hand craft fabric flowers using similar techniques. This class will include hand sewing skills, using a needle and thread, and will follow the “reuse” ethic by giving fabric scraps a new, beautiful life.
