Sat 8/2 No Sew Art of Fabric Inlay 3pm

$30.00

Saaturday - August 2 3:00-5:00pm

Ages: 12+

Description: Explore the art of inlayed patterned collage in this playful, no-sew workshop inspired by the Japanese technique of Kimekomi. You’ll begin with a beetle design template adhered to a foam base. Using a craft knife, you’ll carefully cut along the pattern lines to create shallow channels in the foam. Then, you’ll tuck fabric scraps into the cuts — no sewing or glue required — to build a crisp, colorful inlaid beetle design. This process is a satisfying way to build hands-on skills in template-based layout, craft knife control, and working with textiles in a dimensional format. The results are bold, textured, and full of personality — whether you’re new to crafting or an experienced maker looking to try something different. Students develop skills in: 1) Transferring and working with printed patterns; 2) Using a craft knife for controlled line cutting; 3) Creating clean inlay channels in foam; 4) Selecting and positioning fabric for visual impact. No sewing required. Ideal for curious beginners and experienced crafters alike

Materials: All materials provided.

Instructor: Jenny Lounibos is a lifelong crafter whose passion is giving new life to unwanted and discarded items. She attributes her ability to find new uses for old things to her mother, a former kindergarten teacher. As the winner of the 2023 Craftcation Iron Crafter competition, she learned that she can create under pressure, but prefers to craft as part of her mindfulness practice. Jenny always strives to create a fun and engaging environment to learn.

Location: All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.

Note: LATE ARRIVALS NOT ADMITTED ONCE CLASS HAS BEGUN

Class Refund Policy: Please email remainders.edu@gmail.com with your name and order number at least 48 hours before the class to receive a refund. A 20% cancellation fee applies.
Because we need time to fill vacant spots, there are no refunds with less than 48 hours notice.
