Wed 4/15 Make Deeper Pants Pockets 6pm
Wednesday - April 15 - 6:00-8:00pm
Ages: 14+
Prerequisite: Must know how to use a single needle sewing machine.
Description: Women’s jeans are infamous for their tiny, barely-functional pockets—and we’re done accepting that. In this hands-on sewing workshop, participants will learn how to extend the depth of existing front pockets in their jeans using a sewing machine. You’ll open up the original pocket bag, replace it with a deeper version, and customize the size and fabric so your pockets actually hold the things you carry (phones! keys! hands!). This is a practical skill with a quiet point to make: functional clothing shouldn’t be a luxury. Participants will complete one pair of pants during class. Fast stitchers are welcome to begin a second pair or keep a backup pair on hand in case of unexpected pocket construction.
Materials Included: All necessary tools and materials. Students bring your own pants.
Instructor: Jenny Lounibos is a lifelong crafter whose passion is giving new life to unwanted and discarded items. She attributes her ability to find new uses for old things to her mother, a former kindergarten teacher, who saved paper towel rolls, bottle caps and more to use as supplies for classroom projects. As the winner of the 2023 Craftcation Iron Crafter competition, Jenny learned that she can create under pressure, but prefers to craft as part of her mindfulness practice. Jenny is the owner of Crafty Earth Monkey LLC, a creative business where she sells her upcycled, thrifted, handmade, and punny items. As a facilitator and trainer, Jenny has led adult learners through everything from smoking cessation classes to corporate communications trainings, and scrapbooking and crafting workshops. With a background in theatre and improv, Jenny strives to create a fun and engaging environment to learn.
Location: Upstairs in our Creative Space. Use the exterior stairs on the east side of the building to enter.
Class Refund Policy: Please email toban@remainders.org with your name and order number at least 48 hours before the class to receive a refund. A 20% cancellation fee applies.
Because we need time to fill vacant spots, there are no refunds with less than 48 hours notice.
