Prerequisite: Must know how to use a sewing machine, or have taken Beginner Sewing 1.
Description: This class is for those who want to continue developing knowledge of how to use a sewing machine. and someof the tools associated with construction. We review what most machines can do, such as stitch variations, stitch length and width, zig zag capabilities, gathering stitch, and darning stitch. Students may learn techniques such as top-stitching, double-fold hem, tucks, and stitch-in-the-ditch. Apply some skills by making a simple project as time allows.
Materials Included: Sewing machines, fabrics and all necessary tools and materials
Instructor: Nancy Malone, a lifelong sewing enthusiast, recently retired after more than thirty years working in the costume department for film and television. Nancy spent many Sundays at the fabric store with her mother, picking out fabrics and patterns to create her wardrobe. She took her love of fashion and clothes to Hollywood, where she quickly established herself as an accomplished seamstress and sought-after costumer. Nancy loves textiles and creating handmade clothes.
Location: All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.
