Description: Assemblage pieces repurpose discarded items and "junk" into art, making it a sustainable practice that promotes environmental awareness and creativity. Artists can embed personal history, memories, and political or social commentary into their work by choosing objects with specific significance. This non-traditional art form encourages, personal expression and the exploration of materials, shapes, and textures. Building assemblages encourages, artistic problem-solving, and experimentation with arrangement, balance, and structure.
Materials: All necessary tools and materials are provided, but participants are encouraged to bring any additional parts you would like to use. We will be using hot glue to hold objects together.
Instructor: With over 20 years of experience, Jayme Thaler has been lucky enough to have his hands in many creative fields. At Remainders he teaches a variety of art and craft classes using his extensive knowledge of building and making art, toys, sculpture, product design and now ceramics. Jayme has worked in toy design, fashion, commercial design, music design and is a fabrication/production artist at Paul Mitchell creating and fabricating mock ups and sets for photoshoots as well as prop styling artistic shoots.
Location: All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.
Note: LATE ARRIVALS NOT ADMITTED ONCE CLASS HAS BEGUN
