Wed 4/23 Assemblage Dioramas, 6pm
Wednesday - April 23 - 6:00-8:00pm
Ages: 14+
Description: Explore the art of assemblage inspired by the atmospheric and nostalgic artwork by Bettye Saar! Through the art of assemblage and her transformative creativity, Bettye Saar stood up against systemic racism and conjured a new life for herself using relics and mementos inherited from her family, creating deeply personal and soul-stirring artworks. Join us for an evening of reimagining lost treasures, found objects and everyday items to create special artworks composed of rich symbolism, texture, color, and personal meaning.
Materials: All materials provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own
Instructor: Kelly Dennís Villalba is a visual artist focused on creating unique sculptural artworks. She has experience leading art studio workshops independently and for art museum audiences geared towards community members and students aged pre-k-12. Her favorite thing about teaching is being able to share her techniques and see students express themselves creatively through the medium. https://www.kellyvillalba.com and Instagram: @kellybleugreen.
Location: All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.
