Description: In this stand-alone workshop, practice skills to tap into your five senses and bring poems to life. Bring a favorite poem in order to practice reading it aloud or take the opportunity to write a new poem in class. There is great power in reading aloud, listening to, and discovering poetry through the five
senses. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. No experience required.

All Materials Included: Feel free to bring any writings, poetry or memory pieces to work on.

Instructor: Typewriters Anonymous was founded by Phillip and Elisabeth Nails. They facilitate interactive experiences that provide people with a moment of mindfulness amidst the jubilee of togetherness. Phillip T. Nails (he/him/his) is a performance poet and founding director of Typewriters Anonymous. He holds a certificate in Social Emotional Arts & Healing Facilitation from UCLA’s Arts & Healing Initiative. Elisabeth Nails, MSW, PPSC (she/her) is a program specialist at the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture where she manages Creative Wellbeing, an approach that integrates arts and mental health strategies to support social-emotional development, community connections, and healing from trauma.

Location: All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.
