This class is designed for artists of all levels. A variety of scenes or images will be provided for timed loose drawing while using a number of beginner friendly techniques to inspire participants to draw or paint more freely. I strive to create a class environment that encourages students to stay loose and to not overthink their work.

This class is for those who have taken Beginner Sewing 1 or know how to use a sewing machine. We cover what most machines can do, like stitch variations, stitch length and width, zig zag capabilities, gathering stitch, darning stitch, applying binding and blind hemming. Students will make a sampler of stitches to have for reference and a simple project if time permits.
Thu 5/30 Learn to Read & Use a Pattern 6-8pm
This class is perfect for people who know how to sew and want to learn the ins and outs of using patterns. You will learn how to read pattern directions, layout on fabric and what the language and markings on pattern pieces represent. Must have at least intermediate sewing experience.

Wed 5/29 Sashiko Stitching 6-8pm
Sashiko is a form of decorative reinforcement stitching (or functional embroidery) from Japan. Traditional sashiko was used to reinforce points of wear, or to repair worn places or tears with patches. Students will learn a number of stitches and create their own sampler.
Wed 5/29 Pottery Remix 6-8pm
Join Toban Nichols to make abstract sculptures using broken pottery pieces. Utilizing ideas of destruction and rebirth, you will break pottery and then recombine the broken pieces into new forms of abstract art.
Tues 5/28 Needlework Meetup 6-8pm
Join fellow needle workers for a fun evening of knitting, crochet, embroidery or needlepoint to make whatever your heart desires. Come to chat and hang out, share tips, discuss projects, help each other through challenges and of course make! Bring your WIP’s or start something new. We hope you will join our community of makers!
Tues 5/28 Intermediate Sewing 6-8pm
This class is geared toward the returning sewer or advanced beginner who knows how to use a sewing machine. In this class you will further your sewing knowledge by learning best practices and new techniques including “sewing math”, seam allowances and more. This is the perfect class for a sewer that wants to learn the fundamentals of taking ideas and making them a reality. A project of making an apron will be available, or you can also bring your own simple project.
Sun 5/26 Learn to use a Serger 1-3pm
This very small class is for those who have never used a serger (overlock) sewing machine. We cover the threading of the machine and what the machine can do, like stitch variations and stitch length and width. Students may make a sampler of stitches to have for reference.

Sat 5/25 Chicken Scratch Embroidery 4-6pm
Chicken Scratch is a simple, traditional type of embroidery that is also called Amish embroidery, snowflake embroidery, or depression lace. It is used to decorate items such as aprons, table cloths, place mats, and pillows. Learn many of the different stitches and techniques and make your own sampler.
Sat 5/25 Learn about Textiles, 10-noon
Improve your sewing skills and learn about the basics of textiles like weave types and a variety of fiber origins. You'll get samples and handouts.

Fri 5/24 Back to Basics Collage 6-8pm
This is a basic cut and paste collage class for all levels but with a twist. Instead of wasting precious creation time sifting through piles of paper, you will be presented with their very own pre-made packet of ephemera harvested exclusively by the instructor. You will be provided with a vast variety of different focal points, backgrounds and peripheral imagery to create several stunning compositions.

Learn the basics of Needle Felting or improve your skills. There will be plenty of time to experiment and enjoy the evening.
Tues 5/21 Beginning Embroidery 6-8pm
This class is for those who have never embroidered. Learn the six basic stitches: Running, Back (or outline), Chain, Stem, French Knot and Lazy Daisy. Also learn how to put fabric on a hoop, how best to work with embroidery floss and how to select the proper needle.
Tues 5/21 Open Sewing Studio 6-8pm
Enjoy the company of other sewists and work on your own projects. Ask the questions that stump you at the sewing machine as they arise! Move those projects forward! Learn something new! If you are experienced you may use our machines.
Sun 5/19 Scrappy Mending 4-6pm
Scrappy Mending is a dive into the world of sustainable, unique mending. Participants will transform one well loved (stained, ripped, etc.) item from their wardrobe using items around them and with techniques such as patchwork and basic embroidery. This workshop is great for folks who are new to sewing but want to get into mending their own clothes quickly and on a budget!

Fri 5/17 Hand Pieced Quilt Blocks, 6-8pm
In this class participants will learn the lost art of hand sewing quilt blocks. Everyone will be shown how to make pattern pieces, cut their fabric, draw stitch lines and construct a quilt block. This is a great project to take on the go!

Wed 5/15 Watercolor Portraits 6-8pm
This class is for all levels of artists. I will have examples of old yearbook photos to draw from. Using black ink and watercolor to create an old school style Photo Booth gray scale strip of portraits. The main objective of this class is to introduce portrait drawing in a friendly approachable way and to teach watercolor techniques along with mixing colors.
